Nomadic Assistance For Peace And Development (NAPAD)

Nomadic Assistance For Peace And Development (NAPAD) was initially registered with the Ministry of Culture and Social Services in Kenya as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in 2004, it later changed its legal status to a Local Non-Governmental Organization (LNGO) in Somalia in 2006 and in 2009 registered as an NGO under the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya. The organisation was registered in Ethiopia in 2021. NAPAD has a programmatic presence in these 3 countries in the Horn of Africa. 

NAPAD envisions justice, peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa and its mission is to promote sustainable peace and human development amongst vulnerable communities in the Horn of Africa through the advancement of social justice, economic resilience, and climate change adaptation. As a humanitarian institution, we value transparency, accountability, independence and neutrality, efficiency, fairness and inclusivity, integrity, and professionalism. 

NAPAD has offices in Doolow, Elwak, Garbahaarrey, Mogadishu, Kismayo and Abudwak in Somalia, Mandera and Nairobi in Kenya, and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. NAPAD closely collaborates with local communities and their organizations to ensure that vulnerable and poverty stricken people in the Horn of Africa, particularly the riverine, pastoral, 4and agro-pastoral communities, can enjoy peace, quality living conditions and sustainable development. 

NAPAD has key pillars which guide priorities for the programs in all three countries. Which include: Promoting social justice for beneficiaries in the target communities in the  Horn of Africa; Enhancing the economic resilience of the target communities; To improve the climate change adaptation capacity of target communities
