STRENGTHENING RESILIENCE AND CROSS-BORDER COORDINATION

Baringo County

Advancing locally led peace and climate adaptation initiatives

OVERVIEW

Baringo County lies within Kenya’s Rift Valley region, a diverse landscape of lakes, escarpments, and semi-arid lowlands. The county is home to pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities who face overlapping challenges of drought, resource competition, and inter-communal conflict. Despite these pressures, Baringo remains one of the emerging centres of locally led peacebuilding and climate adaptation in Kenya’s ASAL regions.

Through the ASAL Humanitarian Network (AHN), member organizations in Baringo County are leading efforts to build community resilience, support sustainable livelihoods, and foster peaceful coexistence. By working closely with county authorities and civil society networks, AHN members ensure that humanitarian and development actions are inclusive, data-informed, and community-driven.
